Time to replace the two front u-joints...

i went in for inspection and they told me i need to replace my two front u-joints before i can pass. i found some on rockauto for like $10. i was wondering if i should do with them? or is there a name brand i should get, like spicer?

VERY easy to do with a little time and a few sockets.
I don't use a press, I typically use the socket/hammer trick once the clips are out of the caps.
This is an hour job, maybe less if you've done it before or have some natural mechanical aptitude.

blah, I hate doing Ujoints. They are just not fun. One tip, clean the inner bore of the axle shafts with some emery cloth or fine sand paper, will make re-installing easier. Also be very careful of the needle bearings.

I get solid ones with a lifetime warranty from autozone. Solid ones are stronger, and if the grease ever gets out and they start to wear, the warranty takes care of that.

I used Autozones "Gold" brand that have lifetime warranty. When you put the axle shafts back in, lube up the shaft
where it slips into the seal, and be careful with line up. I ended up ripping an axle seal then had to take everything (and then some) apart again to do seals.
