Question Ticking from engine bay & Evap Code

I've had an evap code for a long time now (yes i replaced my fuel cap, wasn't the problem)

I also noticed a constant ticking in the engine compartment towards the back on the passenger side. I pointed it out to a master mechanic while i had some other work done and he said it's probably a bad solenoid or something.

Has anyone had this issue? I keep seeing posts about the ticking but everyone says it's normal.. it ticks about 2 times a second.

2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ Limited
I'll have to dig up the paperwork with the exact code..

EDIT: may be worth noting that my AC is out as well, but that isn't anything new.

That will likely be the EVAP purge solenoid (not exactly correct name-- anyone?) Chances are good there is a problem somewhere in the fuel system's venting system or the solenoid itself although less likely.

To get good help here, post up the year etc for your Jeep and the exact code the Jeep is putting up.

Probably the purge solenoid ticking. They do that. It can be anywhere from barely audible to being heard from the driver seat. It varies from one XJ to another. My 97 does it, but cant be heard unless im leaning over the fender with the hood up. Like said, post the code.
