Default Thrust angle off...jeep wanders the lane... anything I can do?

I got a new trac bar and got my front end aligned, but after the alignment, the print out showed that my rear Thrust Angle is off, it is at -.20 and supposed to be -0.15 to 0.15, the shop said there are no adjustments on the rear and there is nothing they can do about this. while driving my jeep after the alignment, there is a vibration at highway speed (brand new tires) steering wheel is off, it pulls to the left a lot, but also will sometimes wander. is this all due to the front being aligned properly but the thrust angle being off?

The only alignment angles you can adjust on these is toe, then there is an adjustment to make sure the steering wheel is strait.

As for the vibration it's probably right around 55 mph if so they neglected to balance the wheels and tires properly.

What kind of tires did you buy? The pull is most likely a tire. If you want to troubleshoot a little yourself try swapping the two front tires it should pull right.

Steering wheel shouldn't be off because of back axle. I agree that pulling maybe due to tire balance or pressure. Although if your wheel is off it is very possible they didn't align the front end properly.

The tires I got were Kumhos, not what I wanted but I got a good deal on them cuz I know the manager of a discount tire, and they are month old, the thing is that it still is wandering in the lanes at times without a set pull to either way sometimes

The rear is suspended by leaf springs, which hold the axle centered always. You can adjust it, but not without a great deal of modification. Bottom line, it's not actually off unless it's been in an accident or your spring mounts are tweaked. As for the steering wheel and the wandering, they didn't adjust the front end properly. The vibes are due either to improperly balanced tires, bent rims, or too much driveline angle. I'd take it back and make em align it again for free since they screwed it up, and no matter what they say, they CAN get the wheel straight and stop the wandering or you should never go there again. BTW, where do you get your Midget serviced?? I work at University Motors Ltd. in Ada, and we are MG, Austin Healey, Triumph, and Mini specialists and would love to help you with anything you need.

Alright, sounds like I will make a stop by discount in the morning and have them rebalanced them, then go to have them check the alignment again, I attached the sheet from the shop for the alignment, it appears they did it correct.... I do my own work on the MG, although I believe the gearbox will be needing a rebuild soon as it was driving with a failing slave cylinder for some time, and I think just jammed into gear at times.

it looks like the ACTUAL reading on the Front left is .17, and the front right is .06,... That would be enough cause a pull. Your front left tire is pointed more outward than your right tire. Go back then tell them to get the front toe closer to each other. Like .06 on both sides. This will get rid of your pull

A rear thrust angle will cause the vehicle to "dog track". It still should drive straight down the road

i have had a similar issue with the wander and my alignment is true as it gets accept my thrust. apparently that is a trac bar issue?
the other thing is when they did the alignment they effed my tie rod ends causing play in my steering wheel to where i can turn halfway to the left before i move and that seems to be straight.

As far as alignment goes, toe will not cause a pull, the op stated that your left was .17 and right was .o6 when you drive it will be split equally between both front wheels. Too much camber will pull (camber will lead to the most +) as far as your thrust angle, mine was the same..... I set the toe on mine and centered the steering wheel. No noticible problems from the thrust angle......
Good luck!

you may want to crawl under the truck and make sure they loosened the alignment adjustments total toe is the same before and after. There is only a single bar to make the adjustment.Looks like they may have turned the wheel one way throwing the numbers out of whack take the before measurement and turned the wheel back and hit print.

go back to that place and make them center your steering wheel. Make them fix their mistake. And the right and left toe should be as close as possible.

they set the toe the same way i would. but they dont have to be equal captain was right on that one. oh and being a mechanic its not the best idea to go into a shop and start telling someone to fix their screw up. Most of them will be glad to set it differently if you tell them the problem you are having and competent front end guy can set it to your liking just be nice! just a little advice. and i dont see a major left pull from your work order specs could be tires? thrust wont cause a pull. oh and your caster readings should be switched left to right that could be the cause of your pull.

Quick question. I noticed someone mentioned you can adjust the steering wheel?? I had my jeep aligned after I did my lift and the steering now sits to the left. I was told this is a result of lifting a jeep. Is this correct or should I be going somewere else?

there is one bar you twist to set the total toe once that is good there is an alignment sleeve you turn to move the steering wheel back and forth. Most set ups like this we would bring tools on the test drive just to make sure the wheel was dead on.
