First off, this is my first post, so if it should have gone under another topic or another thread, my apologize. My question is, I recently bought a 98 XJ Classic after I lost my 91 XJ Laredo to a fire...anyway...it has only a few mild mods done to it: flowmaster, cold air kit, 31s, 2" lift (since I just bought it, me and my Dad gave it the good tune up just to be sure...new brakes, front and rear, new rotors, cap, button, plugs...the good stuff, and greased it well.
The next mod I was going to do was put one of the bored out throttle bodies on it...the 63mm from strokedjeep.com (hear he does good work). The main question was if bolting a new bored throttle body would be fine or if I needed to have the intake bored to 63 also...or is it already bored over 63 and the throttle body is just tapered.
Feel dumb asking this question but haven't had time to take it off and actually measure it myself yet...get to that next weekend...but wanted to know if it would be worth it.
Thanks

WElcome to the site! the intake is actaully 65mm. so you will be fine! i run a 62mm and i love it! best mod you can do i think. Altho, you will not REALLY feel it unless you have a freer flowing exhaust. By all means get it now, then look into an exhaust set up.
Sorry to hear you lost your first one too!

OK... this sounds risky, but I saved a bunch of loot this way. I bought an aluminum reamming bit and a straight die-grinder and ground mine out myself. It is easy to do and all you have to do is follow the sizing of the hole in the top of the throttle body. It tapers below the butterfly. Grind it out to the width of the whole hole... haha sry. Be careful not to mark the wall where the butterfly meets the TB wall or it'll goof with ur idle.
Any questions feel free...

Thanks man...I was thinking it was bored a little bit more than the stock one but since I couldn't look for myself, lol...thought I would ask. Yeah, I think I'm gonna go ahead and get it and then look into the exhaust...maybe a header and free-flowing cat.
