Is your gas mileage better with the gears? or would you suggest 4.10s for DD mostly? Did you do it yourself? What tools etc. do I need? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

im a huge fan of doing things myself but gears i would not. i would get 4.56's and have the shop use their gears that way if the gears fail the company can replace them under warranty.

agreed. I wouldn't attempt a gear install myself. just makes me nervous. But, then again, I am a worrier (see the "Pre-Lift Questions" thread.)

I was interested in this thread cuz i want to regear mine and was hoping someone would say some encouraging words about doing it yourself since i couldnt afford a shop, but its noot lookin like thats the consensus haha. I think ive got to have my clutch replaced its starting to engage closer to the floor, used to engage right up at the top but not anymore.

if you don't have the right precision tools and experience in gears to get them right you will have problems!

having done a gear install myself, it's not too bad.

the only precision tools i used were a dial indicator 1/4" beam torque wrench and a micrometer.

just takes lots of patience.

probably one of the most mentally challenging things to do on a vehicle.

but if you know how to measure tight tolerances and read up on regearing articles it can be done

exactly. i was fearful of gearing until i saw my buddy showed me. It's not complicated at all, just requires ALOT of patience and willing to do something again.....and again.....and again.............
