Default Thinking Engine Troubles

Noticed recently that the Jeep makes more noise than get up and go recently. Driving on the highway at 70-75mph and maintaining that speed has become difficult. The engine temp is is measuring in at 214 on the highway and the exhaust runs pretty hot. Noticed this yesterday when I tried taking the bicycle off the rear rack and the tire was starting to get blistered with the heat. Also there is quite a bit of carbon build up on the tail pipe as well now.

Don't know if anyone could help diagnose a possible issue with the Jeep based on what is described above.

BTW the Jeep sits on 31" tires and has factory gearing.

Check your oil filler cap for sludge buildup. Any loss of coolant? Could be a head
gasket leak. Good luck

No sludge on the oil filler cap.

No loss of coolant either. Should be noted that the coolant looks funny. By this it looks like straight water with green sludge buildup around the neck of the radiator. Almost if the coolant and water separated out.

For a clogged cat. I'm not sure how one would test this. Need to go for an emissions test her in the next two weeks as well so not looking forward to that.

Talk to a muffler shop. They can test it. I believe you have to have it up to operating temp but talk to them.
