Should I get a Yellow Top or not? I have a good battery now but I think it is fading on me. I was thinking about trading it in on a Yellow Top. Anybody have one and opinions on it? Thanks

 

Optima batteries are the best made. Myself I'd prob get a red top tho...

I wouldn't recommend a yellow top as a sole starter battery. Their design is not ideal as a primary battery on a DD.

I've noticed a shorten life when I've swapped my secondary yellow (with battery mgr) to the primary spot and left it in that spot for too long.

Red tops are designed specifically as starter batteries. Folks do it, and some with success. But most I've seen result in shorted lives.

So Red Top for daily use and yellow for secondary such as running a winch?

 

you could go with a blue top if you want a dual purpose bat
