one of my '96 has the rear O2 sensor wires cut

its shows a 0138 code on a scanner, but the engine check lights illuminates at switch on, then goes off, as if everything was all good !

Quote: I have a 96 and it rattled too. I ran with it gutted for a while and eventually replaced it with a pipe with a port for the sensor. The pipe sounds much better than the gutted cat. I don't normally get a light but I have noticed in the winter if i'm wheeling in the snow in 4wd and really burning a lot of gas in a short time the light comes on. It usually goes away after a day or two of highway driving though.
How's the straight pipe for drone? Did you Tig the o2 fitting back on?

I had a shop do it because I didn't have a welder yet and he flared the ends of the pipe for me. He had a stack of sensor fittings and just mig welded one in. I got a borla glasspack behind it and theirs not any drone that I can hear over the tires.

Think I have my answer here fellas. Luckily I'm a metal fabricatior and can Tig it myself.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! Never seen a cat delete thread that didn't devolve in to a flame war. These are some great forums.

No problem. Incidentally, I also passed emissions with the pipe in there but your state may differ.
