Is that for a remote entry fob? I just bought a 1993 XJ Country 4x4 with 147k miles on it in fantastic shape. It does have a sagging headliner then i noticed this little dome. Thanks for any help.

Did some searches and finally found out it's an infrared keyless remote sensor. Pretty much dead tech not to mention no fobs came with my XJ. When i fix my sagging headliner i'll just remove that eyesore.

 

yes it is for the remotes, i have had it in both of my xj's, i have ended up selling them to local guys that stilll have and want them, when i redo the headliner and overhead console i will mod the console for switches.

 

Yeah, mine has that little dome also. I'm not interested in reviving the remote for it...enough to keep up with without that..

 

1st post here. I just bought a 96' that has the keyless entry. I was given the fob for it but doesn't work after putting new batteries in. Can I get a new key fob still?

 

From my searches the answer is no. Maybe a used one but then it has to be programmed. Best to chunk the old tech and get a car alarm with door lock feature on it.

 

That stinks. So The headliner is brand new so I can't delete it and cover it up with a new liner. If its obsolete now, it's just there and kind of an eye sore. Is deleting it and putting an overhead consol an option?

 

Lots of threads adding different overhead consoles to an XJ. Check ebay for a console. Most are beat up and need to be recovered which you would want to do since it also has the eye in the sky.
