Some how my over hyper dog, jumped on my lap as driving, i think pushed him off and some how he managed to push the button on the gear select and put it from D to P... made some clicking for about 2 seconds then i throw it back in to D at about 35-40mph. I have seen transitions explode from that..

SO - i know volvo wagons came with them - but is there anyone selling a pet divider for dogs to stay in the back??

you can easily find pet dividers on the net,i just got one a little while back but can't remember where? i saw mythbusters debunk that one, they were taking cars and throwing them into park and reverse while driving,it didn't ruin any of the tranny's they seem to have some feature that won't allow it to happen...did it in my buddies camaro once, like you said made a clicking noise but was fine

Do it on an older plymouth volyature, or any of the older 2.4l transverse engines (Shadow, duster....)...

I was coasting down a hill in N and accidentally hit it into reverse and it definitely didnt make a clicking noise, more like a huge loud thunk and alot of screetching tire noises then no power steering and no gears available ... pulled over turned it off then on put it in P and D felt like everything moved back into position and was fine .... no pet divider advice just wanted to share my "luck" experience

Park's not bad - it will jsut ratchet not being able to drop the pin in between the gear - reverse is bad - now newer cars have an electronic lock so nothing can happen..
