I did some searching and as I understand it for a 2001 sport I will need a 2.25" muffler in/out for the exhaust and a couple 2.25 clamps. Do I get a 2.5 piece of pipe for each side to provide a clamping surface, or should the muffler slip over the existing pipe after I cut out the old muffler?

 

Depends on where u cut.....u've got to look and measure then go to the parts store to see what adapters/nipples are available. 2.25" exhaust pipe is 2.25" OD......adapter nipples, ends of muffs/cats etc. are usually ID so they will slip over OD pipe.
