Ok update on this thread switched the thermostat to the mopar 195 and now it never hits 210 but I don't think it was due to the old stat being faulty when I put the last one in I put the gasket on first then put the stat in which didn't let the stat get into the position right which I think did it I never put a stat in before this one but it was a lesson learned I want to thank everyone that helped me out o appreciate it

 

U still have problems if "now it never hits 210". LOL, just kidding.

 

thanks for posting your update sometimes the answer to problems require backtracking the cooling system in the xj is only adequite at best being all of 12qts. and the location of the fans isnt the best I myself just replaced the radiator cap from motorad to a stant because the motorad spring got weak and it was not working right hope everything works out for you my 2cts.
