Default Are there larger size oil filters to fit 2.5L

Searching and everything I find is for the 4.0L. I have an 85 XJ with the 2.5L and was wondering if there was a larger filter option?

I normally get I believe the WIX 51040 from O'Reilly's. I know that the FL1A fits the 4.0L but would that fit the 2.5L. Mine does not have an adaptor, the filter sticks straight out from the side of the engine.

Edit, found the box it was the 040 I used last time.

During the pre Chrysler era, your 2.5 would use a GM sourced filter adapter from the mighty 151 "Iron Duke". It wasn't until 91 that the 2.5 and 4.0 started sharing a filtration getup. There's a Cadillac filter that is slightly bigger, but not enough to really make a difference.

Your best bet is a Fram HP series or K&N performance filter.

Thanks!

Thought I would check since I am getting ready to change the oil and would upgrade if possible.

Unless you go 20,000 miles between changes, I don't see any particular reason to go to a larger filter.

Some people report interference with a frame rail, or breaking the filter off, if they go to a longer one on the 2.5.
