Under the Crankshaft position sensor test #2 it says to measure the voltage between the cps leads while cranking and if it's not there then it's bad. Well i tried it and i get no voltage on the sensor leads. My question is what is bad? It can't be the sensor itself because it's not plugged in. Should i be checking grounds to the ECM or tracing the sensor leads in the harness or what? Or did I do the test wrong. Or should i just get a new crank sensor and cross my fingers?

 

The sensor is a self producing electric device (it produces a square wave signal with elecrtomagnetic forces), if you don't get the 0.6-5volt oscillation the sensor is bad.
What is missing, spark, fuel or both?

 

no, the sensor itself acts on teh "hall effect" and actually does produce a voltage when the crankshaft passes under it. Its like a little generator. Also, IIRC it is AC voltage. Is that what your meter was set on?
Sounds like you need a CPS.

Yeah im on ac voltage but i tested wrong I thought i was testing for voltage from the computer not the sensor. Now I understand.

No spark. Fuel seems to be there but I don't have a pressure guage.

 

Replace the sensor.
