Default Terminal removal neccesary?

I am wiring up my new BAJA fog lights, and I read in a manual that if I unplug either of the battery cables, unplug the neg terminal first. Then I am supposed to disconnect the ground; where is it on a '91 and how is it done? And is the whole battery cable removal neccesary? The instructions with the lights just say to disconnect the positive terminal, put the end connector on it, and reconnect the cable.

gotta love the wiring , just a couple quick questions. 1) how are you going to be connecting the "hot" wire to the battery? 2) is there a relay that needs to be installed?

and all you need to do to disconnect the ground is remove the neg. battery cable from the battery and this should be done if you have to remove the positive wire

Maybe you should have a buddy help you, one that has some wiring knowledge.

yeah, I was thinking that would be a good idea. I dont wanna short anything, and I sure as hell dont wanna get shocked. The lights are wired to a simple on/off switch, no LED in the switch. It has a large rounded fork on the end that connects to the battery and then there is an inline fuse on that same wire. I figured since it is only two lights and I will only use them during bad weather (daily driver) I shouldnt need a relay.. plus AutoZone couldnt figure out which relay if any to use.

You should always disconnect the negative battery cable when working with wiring in a car, and that will stop you from getting shocked or grounding out a hot wire causing a bigger pain in the butt. This shouldn't be a bad install at all, the fuse should be between the battery and switch and the closer to the battery the better and use butt connectors, if you want to go one step further you can use heat shrink to make the connections somewhat water proof and if your drilling holes in your bumper like i did then just ground the lights to the bracket
