I was backing out of my parking space at work the other day and there was ice in my spot so I put it in 4x4 and backed out, I then put it in park and took it out of 4x4 and proceeded to pull away. When I pulled out there was a car coming so I got out in the road and noticed my truck was dragging like it was in low gear. I couldn't pull right over becuase of the car so I just went real slow looking for a place to pull of the road, before I got too much further it made a "CLUNK" sound and kicked into 2 wheel drive.

It's been fine since then but I haven't put it back in 4x4 either so I'm not sure what I'm in for when I try it again.

I'm hoping it didn't wack anything when it kicked into 2 wheel drive. Does this sound like maybe a vacuum leak?

Sounds like mine. If I remember correctly the transfer case uses straight cut gears and they can make it hard to get out of 4FW. If you stop and then back up a little you take the tension off the gearset and can then shift easily from 4WD to 2WD.

it's normal, TCs sometimes get stuck in 4wd, just back up a couple of times and you're ok.

So you don't think it messed anything up when it went "CLUNK" and kicked back into 2wd? I've been afraid to try the 4x4 since then.
