After coming up my hill, I got about 410*with a borrowed point and shoot deal. I got a bit more off the pipe farther forward. What are your readings?
If I get one "hit" , that will be one better than I got when I asked for your IAT resistance.

I don't know that temp but do remember the temp readings of each header pipe on current race motor, or should say I did. Been a long time since I last raced it. That was something that was done every time when we hit the pits and before going to staging to know if everything was firing properly.
One thing about the cat though I have see many times in the hay fields are trucks setting the fields on fire from them. This is not at all uncommon when a field has dry grass. That may give some idea how hot they can get as they are the hottest area in the exhaust.

A friend of mine unknowingly backed into a pile of snow in a parking lot and the exhaust was blocked.. really! just snow. He sat there idling for 15-20 minutes and his cat actually glowed bright red. He only noticed because his carpet began to smoke! I don't know if he had related problems after that or not. No help here I guess.. I just thought it was neat

Well Fred, their is a book, "Fahrenheit 451". I don't remember why someone was burning books, but that is the ignition point of paper. Gotta figure grass/straw is close. (Funny Monica!) Sheez, 15* in Georgia. You could drive a nail with a peach!
I'd think mine was dead and should be hotter, but if I'm runnen right, maybe there are just not much HC's to burn. Maybe I should unplug a couple plugs and try it.....

Here's some CAT experience. Engine running (shimmed at) 2500 is rpm, pipe 350 ish, Cat in the 400's. Then with one plug unplugged some spots at the rear of the cat hit 900*. Pipe stayed the same. So it is not dead, but I question if that is "good", ether. So there's that.

I was checking to see if mine was plugged a while back and seem to recall it being around 340 on a hot summer day while idling in the driveway......don't know if that helps or not?

Thanks Flowpro. That's about what I got....suppose if HC's were low there wouldn't be much to burn. Pretty sure this one has not been changed this century, guess they can work for a while.
