Default Temp Problems

I need to know are all Jeep Cherokees running temp 195 or do other years have other temps?

My cherokee doesnt have the electric fan anymore. And i am going to install another one. I have put a mechanical Temp gauge so i dont use the old temp sending unit. Will it still automatically kick on and off with the temp. I was debating on putting it on a toggle switch any other ideas???

Should be on normal operation, the temp sensor on the tstat housing controls the fan. If you do wire it to a switch, use a keyed source for power, so it doesn't accidently get left on. Use a relay if you put it on a toggle.

01 4.0L Replaced radiator, t stat, flushes, checked clutch fan (good) new rad cap. That's all for cooling. Runs below 210 moving, idle for 1-5min climbs past 220 slowly. Goes down when driving. E fan dose not come on, heard that the sensor is the t stat housing is what makes it kick on?

Main cause of over heating at idle is a bad fan clutch. They're not too expensive it would be worth replacing to rule it out.

How can you check? The fan that's ran off the pulley that's connected to the motor is hard to turn and has no play.

Could it be the electric cooling fan which is supposed to turn on at 190? I just started having this exact same problem last week and noticed that even at 210, my fan never turns on

Replace the fan clutch and water pump. Fan shroud in place?

Fan shroud plays a big part in cooling. My efan barely ever has to kick on so from my experiences you really shouldn't have temp problems due to a lack of an efan as long as the other components are functioning properly.
