temp guage out, how to test

temp guage out, how to test
Ok So I searched and didnt find anything that helped.
My temp guage died??? I know where the sending unit is, but not how to test for SU or Guage to be bad, any help please, I have a volt meter I can do simple tests, I hope its not the cluster, everything else works great.
Not sure where to test ground and I dont have anyone else to rely on that knows, thanks in advance all, R
