temp gauge issue

Default temp gauge issue

hey yall 88 pioneer my temp gauge is spastic at best conecttion is tight any ideas ?

Ohm test the sender, at operating temp the sender should read about 90 ohms I believe. Too test the gauge you can turn the key on and disconnect the connector the sender the needle should drop and read very low or C, if you ground the connector the needle should go to 260 or hot. If it does this the gauge is working. Also can test for volts from the connector end to make sure your getting 12 volts

Also if you end up replacing that sender be careful, they break easy, and then you have the bottom part stuck in the head.

Da no the system is drained till my dad can soder the pin hol in my radiator
