Default Temp Gauge Inop

Hey guy, new to the forum, and had some questions on a 1987 Jeep Cherokee that I aquired, it is a true Gem, owned by an elderly lady and has 80,000 miles, looks like new, just have a few bugs to work out. Temp Gauge is inop, cruise is inop, and teh rear defog inop. This is the first one of these I have owned and am curious if there are any common issues that could be causing this.

Thanks

I believe if you ground the wire to the sensor at the rear of the head on the inline 6-4.0, the gauge should go up. Could be wrong. The rear lid is fiberglass, the de-frogger will need both power and ground. The connections in the window don't go out all at once. Mine worked on a few rows before it went all the way out. Welcome ! BTW!

First and foremost, check your fuses. That should always be step 1. Then you should check your connections, make sure everything is clean and plugged in correctly.

Welcome to the forum!

!986 thru early 1988 had the c101 electrical connection at the bulkhead (firewall) these would corrode and electrical problems would follow. If it's a standard watch out for a leaking hydraulic unit for clutch or a leaking brake booster which would kill the fuse box (corrode).I would think it's an auto if a little old lady had it,and she only drove it on sundays too?(but at the race track)Rotted vacume hose's also.

Yea, she bought it new, and drove it to work every day, 2.5 miles, and 2.5 miles back. i was amazed at how clean it was. I just put tires and shocks on it and started driving, had to change the fuel pump out after i drove it back to Omaha. other than these little items i havent had any issues

Well the rear defrost was an easy fix blown fuse. I grounded out the temp sender, and the gauge did not move , pulled the cluster and everything looked ok, so i am guessing a bad gauge, any recomendations on where to get one? Started to look at teh cruise, but didnt get very far, can any one tell me what the readings are supposed to be on the speed sensor?

Thanks
