Hey y'all,
So something weird just started happening and I haven't found anyone with a similar problem. I have a 1999 sport w/ the 4.0. I've had overheating issues before, but I had the water pump replaced, new hoses, the whole deal and that was back in July. Everything has been smooth since then. Today, however, the temp gauge was being a little weird. I was driving around and the temp gauge read as normal operating temperature. I turned the jeep off, got some groceries, and when I started it again the temp gauge read almost two notches higher than usual (right in the middle as opposed to a little under). Then after being started for a minute it would fall back to the regular temp I'm used to. This only happened twice, then the next time I started it it was normal. Any ideas?

 

Sounds normal to me. Right in the middle is 210 which is the normal operating temp. "Just under" would be 195 which is the operating temp of the thermostat.
Also these gauges aren't the most accurate.
