forgot to add this to the original post.. i replaced the valve cover gasket about a yr ago. as soon as i did that the temp gauge now bounces around.. with rpm's it goes up or down.. sitting at lights itll go back up to the actual temp. i think... not a huge problem but kinda.. odd. any ideas.. maybe i knocked a cable loose or sumthing? my friend said possible temp sending unit is bad?

 

could be, make sure it has a good connection. you can check the guage by grounding the wire that hooks to the sender. your guage should go all the way over.

 

replace your temp sensor by the valve cover...maybe your f'ed it up some how..
