Exclamation Tcase problems helpp!!

91 CHEROKEE W/

99 ENGINE
5 speed
96 8.25 REAR END
234 tcase??? not sure

ok lets start from the begining..went mudding one day and i unknowingly got mud in my rear diff(dana 35). well i drove to florida from nc and f**ked up my gears. when i got back to nc after a driving for a week or two what i thought was my diff starting jerking really bad. not trusting my self swapping out the diff i picked up a 96 cherokee with the 8.25 rear end for $200. well i just got done swapping out the rear ends and it still jerks violently. now before i did the swap i threw it in 4 low and it did not jerk at all but did jerk in 4 hi.
-so whats the problem
-how can i fix it
also when i swapped the axle i used the driveshaft from the orignal d35 i had on because the jeep i picked up didnt come with one. when i attached it to the 8.25 it was fully inserted into the tcase and i was just able to attach it to the u joints when the suspension had no load on it and was at its lowest point. so my question is when i put the wheels back on and lower the car off the jack did that push the drive shaft in farther and do i need a smaller drive shaft?

Really hard to follow what is happening here. Apparently you say that dirt & or water made it's way into the diff and wiped out the gears and or bearings, right? What was the reason you swapped out the rear differential was it noise, did it grenade? This "violent jerking" does it happen under acceleration, at speed, or deceleration? Are you sure it's not the engine cutting out? As far as the drive shaft, the shaft is "shortest" at full droop and longest at full compression. If the driveshaft barely fits @ full droop it will bind the driveline if you put a load on it. (Imagine the rear diff trying to push to motor through the front bumper.)

the spider gears were tore up from mud getting through that rubber check cap on the 91 so i changed the fluid and drove 750 miles to nc from florida...and about a week after that car started jerking really bad when i accellerate or go in reverse until about 5-10mph then goes away. i looked under the car when i start to move, the tcase and tranny shake violently...i changed the rear end because i thought the diff had locked up

With the vehicle in neutral if you goose the accelerator does the engine move alot? If so check for a broken motor / transmission mount(s).

Have you tried adjusting the transfer case shift linkage?

You got this backwards

Driveshaft is longest at full droop and shortest at full compression
