Dropped pad to install studs to finally fix a small leak and the TC Lockup Solenoid is looking a bit toasty. Replace it while I'm here?
These would be OEM quality, or as close as one can get, right? https://www.ebay.com/itm/281781703567

Correct me if I'm wrong, but any of the ones on Rock Auto are aftermarket parts and according to posts from years past, they're junk. I would very much prefer OEM quality; cost isn't much of an issue...
Haven't heard of any issues with the aftermarket ones, aside from needing to trim the mounting ear to fit. You measure the resistance of the suspect coil yet? 13 +/- 3 ohms is spec.

Most of the "OEM solenoids aren't available, what are we going to do ?!?!" posts are from circa 2015. At the time, the recommendation was to get OEM ones from a JY. Cal, I believe it was, said they run JY solenoids w/ ~300k miles over parts-store versions because they're junk. Perhaps things have changed... No issues with the solenoid when I parked it for it's annual round of upgrades, just looking toasty. Will check the resistance tomorrow.

Measuring at the TCM connector, the TC Lockup measures 13.8 ohms, S2 measures 12.8 and 13.1 for S1, so all within spec. Decisions, decisions... If it weren't for the nasty gouge in the pan sealing surface, where I guess the PO dropped it, or something, I'd would probably just button it up and run it till it becomes a problem; it's TC Lockup after all. But with needing to use RTV to seal up that gouge, ...
I hate removing relatively new RTV. I have a message into the seller to make sure they're OEM Toyota.

I'd probably just ignore it, since it ohm'd out okay and I assume lockup was working. Could just be that one had a different plating or coating that discolored. I don't see any melted plastic.

If it works, leave it, the wire and connector get very brittle
My solenoid works, but not only is the clip broken, but the wire is open circuit, so no TC lockup till I can figure out how to bypass the failed wire ( I think its right where the wire goes through the grommet in the trans body)
