Sorry, I thought you where talking about a Transfer Case (TC). 
If you're talking about the 4 bolts that hold the torque converter to the flexplate, they're M10-1.50 X 14 MM.
Edit: Just saw that you have an '88. That size I gave you was for 89-90 and 97-99 XJ.
The '88 part number for these bolts is J4200302 and so far as I can tell the number hasn't been superseded.
