I can not find a right up for how to change exhaust manifold to replace gasket for a renix XJ.
I know it's similar to H.O.
Any way do I need to remove the throttle body to do this. The 3 stupid torx bits are stripped. Does it even need to come off or can it just lift off with the intake manifold?
I'm dreading doing this so much.

Thank you but for me it actually does at least at some point because I've got to fix the vacuum line that goes into it. To do that I need to remove it and drill out the the hole so I can fix it according to Cruisers tips.
But it's good to know that I can take off the whole manifold then worry about the torx bits.
This jeep has very low miles but has a few small problems that just needs fixing such as:
1. Leaking injector (might as well change all 6 to 703's)
2. exhaust manifold gasket replacement
4. A vacuum hose upgrade (TB)
5. A good throttle body cleaning.
PS I hate hate hate torx bits.

I've read 703 everywhere. But which ever one is more sturdy and less likely to leak.
What volvo years and models does the 746's come in? I will look for them tomorrow and if I can't find them I'll go looking for 703's. I think either will hold up better than stock XJ's according to my reading.

I just thought about it might be kind of aggravating trying to wing taking fuel injectors off a volvo at a junk yard since I've never worked on one.
Also I have no idea which models they may or may not have so I hope I have all the tools I need with me.
I know I can order them already out for under $50. But there is no way I can wait a week for delivery. Dang, I hate crap like this. I wish I drove a 55 Cadillac sometimes.

What cruiser54 tip are you referring to?

If need be you can drill the heads off them torx, then remove whats left using vice grips after pulling the throttle body. Or you can grind a groove in the heads with a Dremel and try removing them with a screwdriver.
Never worked on a Volvo myself but, according to ebay, Volvo from 93-98 using the 2.4 and 2.9 used the 746 injectors (Part # 0280155746).

I just really hope the injectors are tucked down under manifolds and s**t like that. If they are I'll probably drop my head and walk away crying.
I'm up late doing research. Trying to find out as much information as possible.

I think it's a reference to tip #31 for tapping the MAP sensor on a Renix TB for a more secure hose fit

It's the link
http://cruiser54.com/?p=280
It's based off of tip 22. I would have already fixed but those stupid torx are stripped and I honestly haven't had time. So I've had it superglued, it works but it's not right and I know it's only going to last so long.
When I have problems. It bums me out and I feel overwhelmed. I try to do the best I can, when I can. My daddy used to help me but he died 2 years ago. I wish I had a buddy to help me out, it makes so much easier. Don't know why I'm posting this on a jeep forum.

Where you located? I'm sure someone on the forum would be able to give you a hand if need be. As far as being overwhelmed, you eat an elephant one bite at a time. Take it easy, it'll work itself out.

The Volvo injectors are very easy to pull. They are just like the Neon, they are staring right at you. The numbers are on the side of the injectors.
