Exclamation Tail Lights Not working, Brake lights work

I have a 1987 Jeep wagoneer and my tail lights are out. My brakes lights and signals work, but my dash lights do not. There was a short-like problem between my blower switch and dash lights in that the dash would light up if I had the blower switch in the right position.. then the dash went out completely.

Tail lights may have gone at the same time, but I didn't check to know, I have checked fuses and they look good. Must fix today... I will go to crazy lengths to fix before 5... I would very much appreciate some helpful advice. Thanks!

Have you checked your headlight switch? My dash lights sometimes go out and I twist the switch and they come back. The taillights might be intergrated into the same switch(I assume they are). Worse comes to worse, run a jumper off the battery to the taillights till you can get it fixed right. Here a useful link I found full of wiring diagrams. The 87-88 wagoneer is at the bottom, hope it helps

check all the wires and see if some of them need to be replaced.

Question Fixed!

Thanks for the help... very much appreciated! It ended up being the fuse that controls the door-ajar sound... apparently it controls the tail lights too! And now.... my dash lights still don't come on! Any ideas? Again, fuses seem good.

Its probably the headlight switch. I just went through this on my 94 xj.
