Default T-Case Wont Shift

Hows it going guys. I got a 97 xj sport with AW4 and a NP242 t-case. About three weeks ago i went to put it in 4wd and the shift lever wouldn't budge. I hit it with some PB Blaster and got it to shift but i had to really yank on the lever. then it was stuck in 4 partime had to do the same thing and slam on the lever. A month before this it shifted absolutely fine no grinding or anything it would just fall right into gear. what do you guys think i should do try and adjust the linkage? if it was low on fluid it would still shift right? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd definately start with checking the t-case fluid, if you think there's a chance it could be low, and then try adjusting the linkage. Linkage could possibly use a good cleaning too, it might just be all gunked up. It's pretty simple but there are moving joints that can get sticky, especially if rust is involved, which I assume could be likely where you live...
