Default T-case skid not right? Pictures!

97 XJ 4.0 with 242 T-case. 4.5 inches of lift with 1 inch t-case drop.
I bought the warn transfer case skid, i got it on and it went on really easy, but it is very tight up against the bottom of the transfer case. is this right? I've always thought my t-case sat a little lower than other xj's. It could be my Tranny mount but it looks fine. if the t-case was 2 inches higher it would be fine and ive had a mechanic check it but its so tight on the skid that its vibrating the whole jeep when idling in drive and accelerating. the T-case does move up and down about an inch under load (accelerating), ive looked with my foot on the brake and when i gas it in drive and reverse it moves up and down about an inch. it could be the mount but i dont know. Does anyone know how to solve this so it wont vibe the jeep so much? maybe i installed it wrong? the instructions were very clear. it came with some spacers for lifted xj's with lowered cross members but its still not right. Here are some pictures. I dont know why the pictures are so small....... Thanks in advance!

Transmission mounts can look ok but could also be sagging from age and rubber deterioration. My tranny mount looks fine too but it's got alot of movement in it. The rubber is very soft, too soft for my likings, and I can move it about an inch in every direction like yours. I'm gonna upgrade to poly soon.

I thought about upgrading to a poly one as well but i hear they give alot more vibes, i'll prob just put a new oem one on and see if that does anything

I hear they INCREASE the vibes but not to the point where it's unbearable. I also hear that the poly engine mounts transmit more vibes than the transmission mount. Most people say they only feel the vibes at idle.

It's either it's only designed for 231 or a misprint. You could try dropping it another 1/4 or 1/2" but you'd lose alot of clearance.

Bull****, they say it fits to sell the ****., look at the OE skid plates, the one for the 242 has a sink and the 231 one not.

the reason i wanted a skid is because my t-case hangs down lower than my cross member, i dont wanna have it get caught on a rock and get ripped out. Do you know of someone who makes a skid just for the np242? Im searching and haven't found many results yet.
i will call WARN here in a few minutes and see what the deal is.

Thanks for the quick responses

If you need to, make it fit. Raise the x-member drop 1/4" or lower the t-case skid 1/4".

before you do anything check the integrity of the tranny mount by pushing up the TC with your feet from under the Jeep. If it goes up mount is shot.
