Default T-case question

I have a 1994 jeep cherokee sport with a 231j T-case and was wondering what year jeeps did that fit because I need to change mine and have a few chances to get a newer and older one that works. Thank You...Tj

you need to check the spline count of the input shaft on the case...

its either 21 or 23 spline.

usually the 91+ years are 23 spline, but for some reason randomly there are 21 spline cases out here in post 91 xjs......

If you find a deal on a replacement transfer dont let spline count deter ya. If the input gear is the same length you can swap it for the correct spline count from your old transfer.

Sure, it means you have to open it up but if it saves ya cash it may be worthwhile.
