t case problem

Default t case problem

ok over the past month iv noticed it was getting harder and harder to shift in 4hi and 4 low ,last weekend i went 4x4 and got in 4 low but couldn't get it out of 4 low all day .finally after 30 min of shifting i got it into 2wd when i got home i tried shifting but i would just not shift .i tried the next day when i got home and it shifted into 4 hi then shifted back to 2wd and then wouldn't shift .i took a look at the linkage but didn't notice anything wrong.any ideas on what u should do or whats wrong

What happens when you try shifting(tcase) in the driveway, nothing running?

shifted it running not running moving slowly forward and reverse in neutral ,iv tried it all. iv determined that the t case is coming out tomorrow hope i can fix it for the weekend

The linkage does have a crappy bushing that you most likely find worn away( or rather you won't find it). This bushing helped the linkage move freely. Once gone, it's metal on metal. You could have a rather simple fix on your hands.

Have you heard any slight Knocks or vibrations near the shift handle ? That was the first symptom I had. Best of luck.
