i have a t case out of a 99 it is all time 4wd and i dont like it so any opinions would be appreciated

Being you have the 242, then youll want the 231J. But what dont you like about the 242?

do you have 2hi,4FT,N,4Lo, or 4FT,N,4LO? Anyways there will be a tag on the TCASE that have model number i.e: 231J, 242J, 249J ect

Do you have an XJ? Or do you have an aftermarket TC now. Because the Cherokee never came with a permanent AWD TC That started in the Grands. IMO, the 242 is superier for a DD that see's some Off-road, escpecially where snow is a factor. The 231 is better for off road. If you have a AWD TC now, it will depend in what model Jeep you have as to what will fit.

XJ... i dont know anything about the tc, i bought it and the guy said it had a new tc that was awd... i like having the option of 2wd... also it shws 2, 4ft, n, 4l but putting it in 2 it dont move like its in neutral... the tc only has like 600 miles on it
