Just want to ask your opinions guys. I recently built up my back springs to around 3.5 to 4 inches over factory. Since I did that Ive been getting a loud squeaking groaning sound coming from under the firewall area every time I pull away quickly (no noise if I pull away nice and gently). Ive went over all of the front end components and they look solid. Only thing I can think of now is that it might be that the prop shaft angle is too steep and its not seating properly into the back of the transmission?. I have no experience at all with syes, so your opinions will be greatly appreciated. Ive enclosed pics of the prop angle, and how it sits at the transmission.

by the look of things, you have a regular stock driveshaft, and no transfercase drop. However it looks like your rear axle pinion is pointed up. The rear axle pinion should be parallel to the tc output shaft in this scenario. You may need to shim the rear leaves to get the pinion angle back to where it should be.

That being said, you shouldn't need a SYE with the ax-15 and the year of your jeep at 3-4" lift. The amount of the slip joint that is exposed in the picture seems to confirm this.

thanks guys - I was so focused on the slip joint end of things that I didnt even consider the axle pinion angle - I can see it now that you mention it. Also, just after i did the lift, I did think that the rear wheels seemed to be positioned a little differently in the rear arches... not quite as centred as they were before. I thought I was just imagining it because the body height had changed.. but mabaye a shim is in order. Definately will look into it. Thanks for giving me different point of view guys.

Yeah, your right dukie564 - the new leaf packs I built up are pushing the rear wheels backward, and the shim angle down.. you can see the wheel displacemant in these pics. Shim required!.
