thats the inlet for the oil pump

I wouldn't skimp on that. no idea where you can buy just that part, but hopefully someone local to you has a t-case lying around they don't need.

actually i was just looking at mine, and there should be a small o ring in there. if you can get the black hose (goes along the bottom of the case to a screen) snug into that o ring I would say you are set

yeah as ktm said thats the oil pump. i would try to get the little metal hose that hooks into the bottom to seal in there you may still be ok. if not i would suggest going to a u pull it and taking one out of a t-case there. u could probably get away with it with the t-case still in the truck

i bet rtv would work but u have to make sure you dont close off or restrict the hole. the way the pump sits in there you dont really have to worry about the tube falling out because there isnt any jiggle room. i would just use a little bit around the outside edge of the tube.

replace it don't cheap out and just rtv it or force it to fit. this is the oil pump for the transfer case either get a new part or the one that OverlandXJ has you don't want this to break on you when you are out some where with no help

replace it.

that part fails, you burn up and seize up your transfercase. ta-da junk t-case and wrecked SYE conversion.

Just rebuilt my 231, like the guys said, you need a new oil pump and a new pickup tube and screen, the tube or pipe that pushes into the pump will come with a new o ring. It just basically sits in the pump. Gl
