SYE installed...now wont come out of 4WD

Default SYE installed...now wont come out of 4WD

I just got done installing my PORC SYE and now I cant get it to come out of 4WD. I can go from 4HI to 4LO but cant go from 4HI to 2WD. I am stuck in part time. Any ideas?

BFH!!! Jk i would try and put in 4 hi and shift from 4hi to 2wd while driving. i do it all the time when the road gets slick and i cant stop. it shouldnt mess anything up. i have a 98xj too.

I think I tried that last night but I am going to take it out this morning and try again. Anything else out there to try?

put the transmission in neutral and then try to shift into 2wheel its worked for me a few times

Do this: Take the little cover off of the tail cone where the shift rail goes. Have someone get in and try to shift. if the rail doesnt move, thats your problem. happened to me on my last one. The rail didnt line up exactly in the space, so it was hitting the side of the tail housing. 5 minutes with a dremel smoothed out the nick in the metal that was causing it to catch.

in this picture you can see i have the cap off, its on the part that sticks out from the tail housing, just below where the speed sensor goes in:
