I'm trying to decide on getting a Rubicon Express hack & tap SYE or should I get a SYE with a new tailshaft. I'm leaning towards the hack & tap, simply because I can do that myself. I'm not sure if I can do the new shaft type without hiring a mechanic. Is anyone running the hack & tap and have you had any problems with it?

I bought the hack 'n tap because I didn't want to remove my transfer case.

It was simple to install and I have had no issues with it. Supposedly, a shaft replacement is stronger, but plenty of guys are running them with 35's and I have not ever heard of breaking a hack 'n tap.

Let me know if you decide to go the hack 'n tap route, I'd be happy to give you a few pointers. It took about and hour or so in the driveway.
