Which SYE and DS for Me?
I'm fairly new to the Cherokee thing but have been trolling these forums and I've learned a good amount. Anyways I have purchased a 3.5" RE lift and want to buy a sye. Yes I kno I might not need it till I lift it and find out if I have vibes but I am going to buy it and just get the inevitable over with. My question is which sye is of the best quality and also what else I'll need for the install. And how to figure out what size rear DS I will need/ if a front auto DS would work. Thanks

depend on how much you want to spend you could get a hack n tap then a front drive shaft and hook it up or get a true sye which will be stronger than stock output. I believe tom woods is the best that i have read into so far, but i may just do a hack n tap once i decide to. btw rc 4.5 and tc drop not bad so you may want to wait like you said, as installing the lift will prob take better part of a weekend if you are lucky and will have to continue to the sye at another time. either way good luck with the install. Also watch for sales as it is xmas time!! haha

Thanks for the response! I think I am going to just do the sye kit. As for brand I haven't decided seem all the kits seem pretty similar to Me. I am curious when I buy a sye kit what if anything else will be needed to complete the install? Besides the obvious tools.

i suggest going with a sye from ''advanced adapters'' there awesome and quite beefy. i just installed one my self. for things u my need ,, look closely at ur existing tc chain , if ur already elbows deep, and chains stretched, replace it!! . i was there hahah. i just went to the junkyard and found a 231 outa a chev s10 and put that chain in and gears. is a huge upgrade (much wider and stronger) also it will go right in . about ur ds u'll hafta measure it after its been lifted. remember measure from the center of each universal cap . plus the sye swap is easy u can do it right inthe truck !!!!!!!!

I will do the sye because anything else(tc drop/shims) are just bandaids to the problem. Also I don't wanna stress the engine mounts with a tc drop. For how much a sye costs I'd rather just get it done and not worry about a dumb thing like driveline vibes. I drive 50 miles to work each way and it's all highway so I need this thing to have some what of a reliable state
