I have a 4.5" lift w/ transfer case drop and don't have a SYE and have no problems what so ever. But every jeep differs though as im sure someone else will insist on you getting one. But ever since I put my lift on 4 months ago there haven't been any problems.

it depends if you have a dana 44 or chy8.25 they output shaft about an inch longer then the dana 35 so the drive shaft has a little more room to it and you might want to run a degree shim on the leafs of about 3 degree or so but you might still need one though only way to tell is put on the lift and drive it i have the same lift size and have no problems.but i have the dana 44 and about 3 degree's of shim on my leafs

All jeeps are different. Lift and then drive to know for sure. Most people just lift it and if they got vibes then they stick on a transfer case drop till they get a sye kit. You got the older cherokee so odds are that you won't need one but can't say for sure.Originally Posted by lifted93xj

Im thinkin of putting 2in shackles maybe to make it a 6.5in but i think i will need the sye kit for that. What you think?

for any thing over 4.5 you want to get it done so you dont drop your shaft while wheeling at 6.5 this should be a must for you to do before taking the jeep any faster than like 20 miles an hour on the street.
