I put 04 WJ seats in mine. Got mine at JY for $32 for the set. It's only a 45 min swap for me. Used the XJ tracks and WJ seats and its bolt in. The sit about an inch taller than factory. If you are riding with the gangster lean (Broken Base) when you do the swap they will fill even taller. I'm Avg height at 6 foot so its perfect for me. I got power seats but had manual recline of course the power seats don't work since I used XJ Manual tracks.

Thanks to all for your input .... but Cruiser54 is right ... I am only interested in switching the CURRENT Left seat with the Right seat. Again it's a 1996, so the 'switchability' that some guys are claiming may not be there for my frames? I'm new to XJ's so I can only trust wht I hear on this Forum as truth.
The welded tubes and brackets of the lower seat cushion frames are visibly different, and designed to only fit one side only. Right?? That's what I found when I had both sides totally out of the truck the other day. Now somebody above says, "change the seat area only" ... what does that really mean??
It would be really helpfull to hear more on what I need to do EXACTLY to use the left lower seat on the right frame. Does this mean I have to take the two seats to an upholstery shop and get soaked for a total rebuild of the seats?? Can't do that.
So, I'd appreciate if we stay on topic, and only talk about what to do with the two factory seats that I now have.
Thanks a lot,
Fast

First, I need to make a short 'dictionary" of terms so we are all on the same page as far as what is called what.
1. Floor Brackets (sliding) - Removable from lower seat frame. There's a Left and a Right for each front seat. Attaches the seat assembly to the floor of truck. Lower seat frame bolts directly to them.
2. Lower Seat Frame - Welded together from factory series of steel tubing and stamped steel plates. Seat foam, springs and suspension wires directly mounted to seat frame. ALL ONE PIECE steel framing with outer cover, foam, wires, etc., built INTO it.
Nobody 'bolts' foam to steel. Not on the 96 seats anyway!!!
Sorry, but are the four bolts you are referring to ... are they the ones that hold the sliding floor brackets to the seat frame?? Because if that's what you are talking about, they only unbolt the floor sliding brackets from the seat frame. The left and right seat frames are totally different from each other and must go in the factory positions.
The "cushions" are molded and wired directly into the seat frames themselves. My 'cushions' are directly suspended by wires, springs, foam, etc., into the lower seat frame.
The only thing I can think of is what you are describing is an earlier seat style that has a 'removable from the lower seat frame' bucket.
Not on my 96.
