Umm do i need to remove my dash, Because I want to either install it in center consol with other switches by the gear shifter or next to my steering wheel.

you should not have to remove your dash if you install it in your center consol. If you aren't in a hurry I will get you some pics of how I did mine tomorrow.

i did mine to the right of the gauges.

If you take off the center stack surround (pops right of with a flat head screwdriver) you should have access to 4 bolts (10mm I think) that hold the right side of that dash piece on. The left side is simply held in by tabs so you just have to pull it off. If you remove the lower dash under the steering wheel it gives a little more wiggle room but it's not necessary.
From there I just drilled a hole where I wanted the switch, filed the edges smooth, ran the wires through the firewall (main wiring harness grommet) and into the dash. Hooked it all up, tested it, then out it back together. It's pretty easy to do on the 97+ XJ's.

I used Daystar TJ Vent switches for my XJ. The piece itself runs about 20 bucks and 10 bucks a piece on the switches. I took out the passanger vent in the center to avoid any cutting and since im never in the passanger seat...my vent is still functional :P
Ill post up pictures in just a minute. Photobucket isnt working with me.

granted i am running ARB switches in my other vent, this is basically what it looks like. You can pop out the stock vent and this one pops right in its place.
Just pop off the center cover, and route the wires behind.

sorry for the quality. cell phone camera and its dark. probably not the most efficient way but its simple and it works good.
it would be nicer if i ever got aroung to making a latch for it instead of duct taping in down....rednecks in the northeast

OF corse this will only work if you have an extra switch space. My jeep didn't have factory fog lights so I was able to use a dremel tool to cut out what I needed.

i just re-read the post so all i do is pull from the top of the dash above the gauges and it should pop off ?
