sway bar
Would removing the front sway bar when going off-road improve the performance in any way? I've heard about it on a few more modified xj's, just thought id ask about it

Yes removing it will allow your front end more articulation but it will put more stress on other suspension parts. Jeep cherokees seem to handle not having it just fine, as mine is removed on my trail rig. If you ever plan on driving the jeep on the road get disconnect links.
