Say I've got a '92 XJ 4x4 with a good tranny and motor but some bad body rust.

Now, say I also could easily acquire a rustless '99 4x2 XJ body with no motor.

Anyone know if outside of the "body looks" changes if I'd run into huge problems with swapping my running gear? - Maybe doing a SYE and keeping the 8.25 rear axle instead of the D35 though...?

 

The block would work but the head and other electronics are completely different in the 92. You might be good to swap all the computer and electronics and wiring and such. Maybe Frankz or someone with more experience will chime in. I know Frankz knows motors very well.

 

I plan on swapping everything to the new body (well, unibody) - except perhaps the rear axle if anything. I would be bringing with me my engine, wiring, transmission, axles, transfer case, et al.

Oh, and probably keeping the newer seats if they're in decent shape - but swapping literally everything.

What I wasn't sure about specifically was the mount points for the shackles/shocks/engine mounts and all that. I don't believe they've moved, but am trying to find out before driving the hundred miles to pick up the newer body and then find out I'd need to do a bunch of modifications to it.
