Default Surging RPM at Idle

88 XJ when i start it in the morning it surges a few hundred rmps. usually stops after its been completely warmed up. IAC and throttle body clean, new plugs, I'm leaning toward TPS? What do you guys think?

Could also be a small vacuum leak.

Correct. With the engine running, spray some throttle body cleaner around where the intake manifold meets the head and all the vacuum lines under the hood. If you spray a vacuum leak, you'll know it.

As for the TPS, it doesn't care whether the engine is cold or hot. but, it is adjustable.

Read through the write-ups in my signature and get ahead of the game by doing some of the maintenance mentioned there which is pretty much free to do.

I have read your write ups and am in the process of doing some of those as we speak. Thanks by the way. Over 3 forums and you are the only one that had a decent and helpful response...

1 through 5 plus 11 is a heck of a good start. Post up any questions you may have.
