Default surging problems

i have a surging problem that happens in between 3rd gear and 4th gear. i dont try to go fast but at a steady speed the Jeep starts surging. i know i need to replace the spark plugs and distributur. could these be the problem or is there something else i should look at?

Wayne first clean the carb with some choke cleaner. Try that first. Maybe some seafoam. The plugs would be nice but the spark is not going to change in magnitude, thus is probably not related to the surging.

Check for faulty accelerator pump and or linkage, they can cause that as well!! That carb is pretty old. Has it seen a rebuild yet?? Might be time for that, IMHO. HTH!!

Wayne it will be obvious on the carb. If you will shoot us some opics we can help you a little more. It has been awhile since most of us have worked on anything with a carb except our lawnmowers. LOL

Pics worked but are off by 90 degrees I got a crink in my neck lookin' at 'em. Follow the wires to the TPS is all I can say. Should have three wires to it and a plug right on the TPS itself. (Look at the pic that xjjeepthing posted)
Replace and adjust it and you should be good to go. Don't ask me about adjusting a carb TPS as I have never even seen one.

Has to be mounted on the carb itself to get the term throttle position sensor. Maybe you can get more info from xjjeepthing. PM him!!
