Hate to say it now after new engine on the way...how did you diagnose and a rod bearing can be changed in an hour ...after the pan is out of the way.

I had a local trusted 4x4 shop take a look. They scoped it said there was some scoring as well? Their recommendation was a replacement.

Yeah. It was pretty apparent when deciding what to do how much i really like this vehicle. haha. Dependable, easy to work on, classic look. TONS of aftermarket support. Hopefully ill get another 275k out of the new engine. That would be at least another 20 years. Thats about how long it took to get this far, and I definitely dont drive it as much as we used to when it was our main car.

So how long before the new motor arrives, have you torn apart the old or at least checked that #5 rod bearing visually to verify? or its too late for all of that whats the new engine costing...just a short block or full top and bottom? You changing it or are you paying someone to do it for you..sorry if too intrusive questions
