Just a mounting plate. Then just used plenty of foam to seal her all up

No problem, it does a nice job. And with a proper sealed box a much better sound quality. If you have a speaker that is designed to work with a small enclosure (or close to the spec) you can also fill the box with dacron(basically a poly pillow stuffing)this will help as well.

what does that filling do for me though what are the benefits? more airtight or less vibration?

Yes more air tight less vibrations

I don't think it would sound good
Seems like that plastic planel would rattle alot
