Default Stutters when LIGHTLY tapping gas at idle...normal?

I recently noticed something with my Jeep i've never noticed in any cars i've driven or owned... When the Jeep is sitting at idle and I just barely tap the gas and let off, the Jeep studders and almost stalls out, then regains itself. When I say barely tapping the gas, I mean not even putting the full weight of my foot on it and immediately letting off. When this happens, my exhaust smells EXTREMELY rich. If I tap the gas a tiny bit harder and let off, the rpms will raise after I let off and lower again. This doesn't seem normal to me either. I'm wondering if anybody elses Jeep does this and if it's normal. Maybe this could be a symptom of a bad component that I don't know about and the reason for my absolutely terrible gas mileage... (6-8mpg city/highway mix on 33's and 3.55's.) I will try and post a video soon of what I'm talking about.

May be a TPS or a MAP sensor issue. You need a scan tool to read the data from the sensors and see if there are any dead spots in the sensor's range. Diagnose the problem, do not just start throwing parts at it.

I usually don't just throw parts at a problem and hope it fixes it, because a lot of the times that can bandaid the real problem... only making it larger in the long run. I just wanted to see if this was normal or not, and if it is a direct sign of a bad sensor I will replace it. Sensors are relatively cheap and most of mine are probably bad anyway, or not far down the road.

I recorded a quick video from my phone of this problem and posted it on youtube. Beware from 2:15 on it gets loud.

That does kind of act like a TPS with a dead spot.

How can I check it? Is it just an adjustment issue?
