Stupid Door wont Open from the Outside

Stupid Door wont Open from the Outside
hey guys need some help wondering if some of the veterans on here can help outta rookie.. so my rear drivers side door wont open from the outside but it will from the inside. so i ripped of the panel and found that the mechanism that latches it is all rusty and dosent push the latch up high enough anything i could do to fix it or should i just go to a auto wreckers and get a used one.. here is some pictures so you have a better idea of what im talking about ,

i can see the pictures, i know when my driver did that i was able to just shove some tape in there to make it catch, and it worked, but theres usually plenty of xjs at the jy and door handles arent to expensive. probably worth it to just get another :P
