IMO, yes as long as you don't seperate the cover from the axle (make sure you dont pry on the cover) you should be fine. If you see fluid at all come out then re-seal it.

Thats what I thought, but about a week or 2 later it started leaking. You miht get lucky but its not hard to do so you may as well re seal it.

I got away w/not having to re-seal, but I used the crappy allen bolts that came w/the diff guard and it caused a leak. I re-used the old bolts and no more leaks.

A tube of RTV is like $1. Why not just reseal it and be sure? I think you are just asking to have to do it all over again if you try to get away on the lazy side.
